A woman was arrested today in connection with a fatal five-vehicle crash last week near McCarran International Airport after police found she was traveling more than 81 mph at the time of the incident, according to Metro Police.

Las Vegas resident Angela Bashay, 39, was arrested on a felony count of reckless driving involving death, according to police. She is being held on $5,000 bail, jail records show.

Bashay was headed east on Sunset Road in a 2011 Honda Pilot about 8 a.m. Aug. 10 when the SUV hit the rear of a 2003 Nissan Altima near the Paradise Road intersection, according to police.

Police mathematically determined Bashay's speed based on evidence at the scene.

The Altima hit a traffic signal pole, and Bashay's vehicle overturned before it skid and hit a 2007 Honda Civic in the left turn lane to southbound Paradise, police said.

The Civic was pushed backward and hit a 2015 Toyota Highlander and a 2011 Toyota Camry in the outside left turn lane to southbound Paradise, police said.

Police initially believed a semitruck was behind the crash but later determined that wasn't the case based on video evidence from a nearby Post Office, according to a news release.

The driver of the Altima, 39-year-old Las Vegas mother Christine Robinson, was taken to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The 34-year-old woman driving the Civic was also taken to Sunrise and suffered minor injuries, police said.

Bashay suffered minor injuries and didn't show signs of impairment at the scene, police said.

No other injuries were reported.
