A man on a motorcycle was killed in a crash with a minivan Wednesday evening at the intersection of the northbound U.S. 95 offramp and Jones Boulevard, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

Troopers were called about 7:40 p.m. to the scene, and the man driving the motorcycle was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, Trooper Loy Hixson said. He died later at the hospital.

In a news release Friday morning, the motorcyclist was identified as Ulises Torres, 22, of Dallas. Authorities said Torres entered the intersection on a red traffic signal and struck the van, which had gone into the intersection on a green light.

A 54-year-old woman who was riding in the minivan was taken to MountainView Hospital with minor injuries. Both she and the driver of the vehicle, a 35-year-old man, are Las Vegas residents.

Traffic on northbound Jones was being diverted onto Upland Boulevard, he said.
