Man accused of sex crimes in New Mexico arrested in Las Vegas

ALBUQUERQUE — A man wanted in New Mexico for allegedly molesting children has been arrested in Las Vegas.

U.S. Marshals Service officials say 55-year-old Howard Potter was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Thursday pending extradition to New Mexico.

Potter was wanted in New Mexico for failing to appear at his arraignment in May.

Authorities say Potter was indicted in April on charges of one count of criminal sexual penetration of a minor under age 13, three counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor under 13 and one count of bribery of a witness.

Investigators began searching for Potter this month and quickly developed information that he was in Las Vegas.

It was unclear Thursday if Potter has an attorney yet.
