2 churches in Lake Tahoe area found vandalized

INCLINE VILLAGE — Authorities say two churches in Incline Village have been vandalized, the latest targets in a string of similar incidents in the Lake Tahoe area.

The Village Church and the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church were vandalized overnight Saturday. The churches are located less than a mile apart along Mt. Rose Highway.

Washoe County sheriff's deputies say the recent vandalisms follow a pattern of similar incidents that have occurred in Incline Village since April.

Investigators say they have escalated over the past month from graffiti to property damage such as broken windows.

Lt. Jeff Clark says Washoe County authorities are working with the FBI to bring charges against whoever is responsible for the damage.

Secret Witness of Northern Nevada is offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest.
