Child struck by vehicle in northeast valley, hospitalized

A child was struck by a vehicle in the northeast valley this afternoon, according to Metro Police.

Also according to police:

Officers were called about 3:45 p.m. to the area of East Craig Road and North Nellis Boulevard, where an accident with injury was reported. The child, whose age and gender weren't immediately available, was taken to University Medical Center with injuries that appear non-life-threatening but serious.

Nellis was closed in both directions between Craig and Las Vegas Boulevard North as police investigated, but the lanes were reopened by about 5 p.m.
