Oakland, Calif. —
Authorities says a 16-year-old boy died after a tree branch he was climbing snapped, crushing him to death along the shores of Lake Merritt in Oakland.
The Contra Costa Times reports (http://bayareane.ws/1HNokOW) the boy was identified Saturday as Jack Lewis of Oakland.
The teen died Friday evening after being struck by the branch he had climbed outside the entrance to Children's Fairyland, a theme park.
Oakland police say several teens were climbing on the tree when a large branch broke, causing Lewis to fall to the ground and suffer fatal injuries.
