An extension cord on a holiday display overheated and caused a small fire early today at the Forum Shops at Caesars, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

The fire, which was small and quickly extinguished, was caused by an overloaded circuit, which melted the extension cord, officials said.

Damage was limited to the wiring, officials said.

The stores were not open at the time, and nobody was injured.

“There was nothing of any consequence, but it is a great reminder for people to not overload their circuits,” Assistant Fire Chief Larry Haydu said. “You can be just one cord away from starting a fire.”

The incident did not affect other parts of the Caesars Palace complex.

The company couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
