Petition seeks Michele Fiore’s resignation from Assembly

A Day with Michele Fiore

Michele Fiore takes part in Alan Stock’s radio program May 8, 2014.

An online petition called for the resignation of Assemblywoman Michele Fiore, following recent remarks widely interpreted as saying that she wanted to shoot Syrian refugees in the head.

The petition, posted at Change.org, was started earlier today in response to comments Fiore made on her weekly radio show Walk the Talk on KDWN.

"I'm about to fly to Paris and shoot 'em in the head myself," Fiore said. "I am not OK with Syrian refugees, I am not OK with terrorists. You know, I'm OK with putting them down, blacking them out, just put a piece of brass in their ocular cavity and end their miserable life. I'm good with that."

Fiore later said she was not talking about Syrian refugees, although she added that she did not want Syrian refugees in Nevada.

The petition garnered more than 130 supporters as of Tuesday afternoon. An affiliated Facebook page was also started calling for Fiore's resignation.

"Nevadans are seeking for the resignation of Michele Fiore — her recent comments regarding the slaughtering of Syrian Refugees is hate speech and she should not be an Assembly Woman in our state," the petition said. "Nevada is embarrassed by her continued, hateful, racist and downright evil remarks."
