Detectives are investigating the death of a 4-month-old boy after receiving a report of a medical emergency this morning in east Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.

Police say they received a call about 12:20 a.m. today from medics who responded to a child in medical distress in the 5100 block of East Sahara Avenue, near South Nellis Boulevard.

The boy was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center before officers arrived and pronounced dead, Officer Laura Meltzer said.

The Clark County Coroner's Office has not yet released the cause and manner of death.

Metro detectives are investigating the circumstances of the baby's death, which is standard procedure in child death cases, Meltzer said.

No additional details were available.
