Court upholds conviction of man in roommate’s slaying

CARSON CITY — A federal appeals court has rejected the petition of Anthony Prentice, convicted of killing of a Las Vegas man who was stabbed 128 times and had a large swastika carved on his back.

The U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against Prentice, who is serving two consecutive life terms without parole.

Prentice argued his attorney was ineffective and his conviction should be overturned. He was found guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of his roommate Daniel Miller in September 2002.

A co-defendant, James Harrison, was convicted of first-degree murder and is serving a life term.
