Metro Police have identified two SWAT officers who opened fire on an armed woman after an hourslong standoff Monday in the northeast valley.

The fatal shooting happened about 2 p.m. at a home on Aviation Street, near Las Vegas Boulevard North and East Craig Road, less than a mile from the Nellis Air Force Base.

Officers Charles Moser, 44, and John Collingwood, 33, have been placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of the incident.

According to Metro, the SWAT snipers fired at the woman, who pointed a shotgun at officers after stating she intended to provoke a gunfight.

The woman was identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as Brenda Kimberling, 48, of Las Vegas. She died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Moser has been employed with Metro since September 2000, and Collingwood has been employed by the department since January 2006.
