Authorities are identifying the man suspected of shooting an officer and then eluding police in Las Vegas before being arrested in a golf course community miles away.

Metro Police officer Michael Rodriguez said Friday the man arrested is Teag L. Fox, 38.

Clark County jail records show he is being held, but it is unclear if he has an attorney. Fox declined interview requests at jail.

The shooting and manhunt happened Thursday. Two patrol officers at about noon were responding to a domestic call south of the Las Vegas Strip when a man not involved in the dispute made a comment to an officer and then fired several shots.

The veteran officer was struck in the arm and torso. The officer with 21 years of experience hasn't been identified, but police said he is expected to make a full recovery.

The officer did fire back at the scene, but the gunman ran away and disappeared for hours. The alleged shooter was arrested around 4:30 p.m. about 3 miles south, near the upscale Southern Hills residential and golf community. The gun used in the shooting was also recovered.

Police said Fox faces charges of attempted murder and battery with a deadly weapon against an officer and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure.

The sheriff has said investigators are trying to determine if the man had help trying to flee.

It was the 15th shooting this year — and third one this week — where an officer opened fire or was shot at while on duty. A police briefing is expected Tuesday.
