Galina Stoyanova Kilova Preliminary Hearing

Galina Stoyanova Kilova appeared before a judge during a preliminary hearing at the Regional Justice Center, Wed. Dec. 31, 2014. Kilova is accused in a hit-and-run on Nov. 24 that killed 63-year-old Michael Grubbs and injured his 18-month-old granddaughter.

A 30-year-old Bulgarian woman has been sentenced to six to 15 years in prison for driving away after her car struck and killed a grandfather pushing a stroller on the shoulder of a busy Las Vegas road.

Her lawyer says Galina Stoyanova Kilova apologized during sentencing Tuesday to the family of 63-year-old Michael Grubbs.

Grubbs died when he was struck November 2014 while walking on the side of Rainbow Boulevard south of the 215 Beltway.

Grubbs' 18-month-old granddaughter, in the stroller, survived with minor injuries.

Kilova was found guilty at trial November.

Prosecutor Eric Bauman notes the sentence was the maximum available at the time of the crash, and that Kilova will face deportation when she's released.

Defense attorney Martin Hart says a decision hasn't been made whether to appeal.
