CARSON CITY — Prison officials say a 72-year-old inmate in prison since 1997 for sexual assault of a minor has died in Carson City.
The Nevada Department of Corrections said Wednesday that Robert Veach died the day before shortly after 10 a.m. in the Northern Nevada Correctional Center's medical facility.
The agency says Veach was sent to prison from Washoe County in May 1997 and sentenced to 20 years to life for sexual assault of a person younger than 16 years old.
The state's department of corrections says the Carson City Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy.
