United flight from Seattle slides off runway in Chicago

CHICAGO — The Federal Aviation Administration says a flight from Seattle to Chicago slid off the runway at O'Hare International Airport.

United Airlines spokesman Charles Hobart says there were no injuries. He says the aircraft landed safely but then taxied just beyond the runway's turnoff point.

The FAA says the slide-off happened at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday with United Flight 1977.

United didn't immediately say how many people were onboard the plane.

A fire department spokesman told WBBM-TV that the aircraft would be towed off the airfield.

The FAA says it's investigating.

Snow was falling in the Chicago area Wednesday morning. United said it hasn't determined if weather was a factor in the incident.
