Fire at apartment building displaces 38 residents

A fire at an apartment building this morning left 38 people without a home, according to Clark County Fire Department officials.

Firefighters responded about 2 a.m. to the blaze at the two-story building at 1405 Vegas Valley Drive, near Desert Inn Road and Maryland Parkway.

The fire affected multiple apartments, and the entire building was evacuated, Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan said.

The Red Cross was assisting with the displaced residents, including 19 adults, 17 children and two handicapped people, officials said. Nobody was injured.
