A 13-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was hit by a car while riding his bike in the southwest valley Friday night, police said.

The incident was reported at 8:26 p.m., after a 2003 Toyota Corolla traveling south on Jones Boulevard struck the bicyclist as he was eastbound in a marked crosswalk, police said.

The impact forced the bicyclist to the ground, and the Toyota came to a controlled stop with the bicycle lodged under the front of the car, police said.

The bicyclist was taken to University Medical Center's Pediatric Center, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.

The injury accident is the second in two days at the location.

On Thursday, a 15-year-old boy was crossing Jones near Russell in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a pickup truck and critically injured.
