PHOENIX — Arizona corrections officials say the death of an inmate at the state prison in Kingman last month is being investigated as a possible homicide.
State Department of Corrections officials say 23-year-old inmate Neil Early was injured in a Jan. 16 fight.
Early sought medical treatment on site, but DOC officials say he was later transported to a Kingman hospital.
He subsequently was airlifted to a hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Authorities say Early died on Jan. 19.
Corrections officials say it appears Early died as the result of injuries he received in a physical altercation with at least one fellow inmate.
They say a criminal investigation into Early's death is ongoing.
Early was sentenced out of Maricopa County and was serving sentences for organized retail theft and drug paraphernalia violations.
