Early morning fire destroys duplex in North Las Vegas

Fire destroyed a duplex in North Las Vegas this morning, causing an estimated $92,500 damage, fire department officials said.

Nobody was injured.

When firefighters arrived at 3:35 a.m., heavy smoke and flames were coming from the single-story duplex in the 3300 block of Thomas Avenue, according to the North Las Vegas Fire Department.

North Las Vegas, Clark County, and Las Vegas firefighters were able to control and contain the fire, which extended from one unit of the duplex to the other, officials said. It took about eight minutes to put out the fire, officials said.

Neither unit was occupied at the time.

The building was a complete loss, and the cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
