Pedestrian, 57, hit and killed crossing Flamingo Road

A 57-year-old Las Vegas man was hit and killed by an SUV on Sunday night while crossing Flamingo Road near Rainbow Boulevard, according to Metro Police.

The man was crossing the street about 7:40 p.m. in the path of oncoming traffic when he was hit by a Dodge Durango headed east on Flamingo, just west of Redwood Street, police said.

The driver briefly saw the pedestrian and tried to avoid hitting him, police said.

The pedestrian, whose name has not yet been released, suffered critical injuries and was taken to University Medical Center, where he died shortly after 10 p.m., police said.

Neither the driver, a 51-year-old man from Hong Kong, nor any of the four passengers in the SUV, also all from Hong Kong, were injured, police said.

The accident remains under investigation.
