A 57-year-old man who was hit and killed by an SUV while crossing a road Sunday night in the southwest valley has been identified as Las Vegas resident Leopoldo Parra-Martinez, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Parra-Martinez died at University Medical Center of multiple injuries he suffered in the accident as he attempted to cross Flamingo Road near Rainbow Boulevard in the path of oncoming traffic, the Coroner's Office said.

He was hit by a Dodge Durango traveling east on Flamingo near Redwood Street about 7:40 p.m., and he died at the hospital just after 10 p.m., Metro Police said.

The driver, a 51-year-old man from Hong Kong, attempted to avoid the pedestrian, police said.

He was not injured, and none of the four SUV passengers were injured.
