Man struck while helping motorist on 215 Beltway

A man was hospitalized today with serious injuries after being struck while attempting to help another motorist whose car broke down on the 215 Beltway, Nevada Highway Patrol said.

A woman was driving a BMW convertible this afternoon on the Rainbow Boulevard offramp of the beltway when the car broke down, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.

Another motorist, a man, stopped to helped the woman and attempted to push the woman's car out of the roadway while she steered, Stuenkel said.

A Honda Civic struck the man and the car, and the man was transported to University Medical Center's Trauma Center, she said.

He suffered serious injuries that do not appear to be life threatening, she said.

The woman suffered minor injuries and chose not to be transported, Stuenkel said.

The offramp was partially closed while troopers investigated the incident, but the roadway has since been opened.
