SPARKS — A 35-year-old Reno man faces up to 46 years in prison after pleading guilty to several charges stemming from a shootout with police last summer at a Sparks motel.
No one was hurt but police say at least five vehicles were damaged when Luis Machado fired about 100 rounds from the second-floor of the Motel 6 on Victorian Avenue on Aug. 21.
Police say they eventually recovered an AR-15 rifle, two handguns and about two ounces of cocaine form his room.
Machado pleaded guilty Wednesday to assaulting an officer with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, discharging a firearm from a structure and drug-trafficking charges.
He remains in the Washoe County jail where his bail is set at $101,000. His sentencing is set for Feb. 25.
