Officials ID inmate, 76, who died at Valley Hospital

Authorities have identified a 76-year-old inmate who died last month while serving time for a child sex assault conviction.

Officials from the Nevada Department of Corrections say Ronald Bugbee died Dec. 21 at Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas. He was taken there from High Desert State Prison about two weeks earlier for treatment of a medical condition.

State officials say an autopsy is underway to determine Bugbee's cause of death.

Bugbee was serving 10 years to life in prison after being convicted in Clark County of sexual assault and sexual assault of a child under 16.

He's been in the prison system since 2003.
