Two in critical condition after cars collide, one hits forkift

A two-car crash early Sunday morning left two of the five people involved in critical condition, according to Metro Police.

Police were called to the collision on Sahara Avenue at Carillo Street at approximately 4:21 a.m. A Ford Fusion was traveling westbound on Sahara Avenue at a high speed while approaching Carillo Street as a Ford pickup was turning left onto eastbound Sahara Avenue from a posted stop sign on southbound Carillo Street. The pickup hit the right side of the Fusion and came to a stop near the point of impact; the Fusion spun clockwise across the eastbound lanes of Sahara Avenue, then hit the left side of a forklift parked in a construction zone before continuing to spin westbound in the eastbound lanes.

The driver and two passengers of the Fusion were transported to Sunrise Hospital with serious and critical injuries. The driver of the pickup sustained no injuries, while a passenger had minor injuries.
