Police dog bites man who broke into Las Vegas library

A man was arrested this morning on a burglary charge after allegedly breaking into a downtown Las Vegas library and being bitten by a K-9 unit dog.

Police received a report about 9 a.m. of a burglary at Las Vegas Library, located at 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North, near Washington Avenue, Metro Police Officer Larry Hadfield said.

When library security arrived in the morning, they noticed a broken glass door and called 911, Las Vegas-Clark County Library District spokeswoman Karen Bramwell-Thomas said.

A dog from the K-9 unit found the man in the employee reference workroom, and the dog bit the man's arm, she said.

The 36-year-old man was taken away in an ambulance and arrested on a burglary charge, officials said.

The library was closed for two hours due to the incident, and no property was missing, Bramwell-Thomas said.
