Pregnant woman hit by car near Circus Circus dies

A pregnant woman struck by a car near the Circus Circus last month has died, while the death of her newborn baby has been ruled an accident.

The Clark County Coroner's Office said today that 1-day-old Romeo Vargas died June 27 after being born through a medical procedure.

He died of extreme prematurity, placenta abruption and maternal blunt force injuries. His death was ruled an accident.

The mother, 27-year-old Nancy Elizabeth Ojeda, died July 3 after she was hit by a car while six months pregnant on June 26.

Authorities say the Las Vegas woman was struck by a 2014 Ford Focus car while she was walking outside a marked crosswalk.

The 24-year-old Las Vegas man driving the car wasn't hurt.
