3 troopers hurt, man arrested after freeway chase

Updated Tuesday, July 7, 2015 | 4:30 p.m.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says three troopers were hurt arresting the driver of an SUV that had been reported stolen, after a 45-minute freeway chase almost to Boulder City and back to Las Vegas.

Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel says the black Chevrolet Tahoe crashed into two highway patrol cruisers about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday to end the chase near Charleston Boulevard and Lamb Boulevard.

The pursuit began on U.S. 95 west of downtown and went some 25 miles southeast to the Railroad Pass area before turning back toward Las Vegas.

Stuenkel says troopers deployed a spike strip on U.S. 95 near Boulder Highway, but the driver went another 2 miles before the crashes and his arrest.

The 36-year-old driver wasn't immediately identified.

Stuenkel says he's expected to face multiple felony charges.
