Coroner IDs Henderson man killed in weekend head-on crash

A man killed in a head-on crash Sunday morning on State Route 160 has been identified as Patrick Denley, 61, of Henderson, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Denley was a passenger in a Ford Focus headed east on State Route 160 near mile marker 17 when the car was hit by a westbound Pontiac Bonneville, according to the Highway Patrol.

The driver of the Pontiac was reportedly trying to pass slower vehicles and steered into the eastbound lane, crashing into the Ford, the patrol said.

Denley was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol said.

The 24-year-old woman driving the Pontiac suffered serious injuries, and the 16-year-old driving the Ford suffered minor injuries, the patrol said.

Both were taken to University Medical Center, the patrol said.

The accident was the 40th fatal crash investigated by Nevada Highway Patrol-Southern Command this year.
