Nevada conservatives join push to defund Planned Parenthood

Updated Tuesday, July 28, 2015 | 3:41 p.m.

Nevada conservatives are joining an effort to defund Planned Parenthood after the release of covert videos of agency officials.

KSNV-TV reports several dozen people attended a noontime protest of the organization on Tuesday in front of the Grant Sawyer Building in Las Vegas.

Similar rallies were scheduled at noon local time in about 70 cities across the country. The efforts were spearheaded by the nonprofit anti-abortion group Students for Life.

Organizers said they'd like Nevada elected officials to join the call for investigating Planned Parenthood after the release of videos showing agency officials discussing how they provide aborted fetal organs for research.

Numerous Republican presidential candidates have called for eliminating Planned Parenthood's federal funding, and three congressional committees are making inquiries.
