Pedestrian hit by SUV in North Las Vegas is critical

A pedestrian hit by an SUV this afternoon in North Las Vegas suffered critical injuries, according to police.

North Las Vegas Police received a report just before 4 p.m. of a crash involving a pedestrian at North Martin Luther King Boulevard and Watercreek Drive, near West Alexander Road, Officer Aaron Patty said.

The male pedestrian, whose age was not immediately available, was taken to University Medical Center, according to police.

The driver of the SUV remained on scene, Patty said.

It was not immediately clear if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.

Northbound Martin Luther King Boulevard is closed from West Gowan Road to West Alexander Road as police investigate, and police are suggesting drivers avoid the area.
