Elko courthouse gets 2 bomb threats in 1 week

ELKO — The Elko County Courthouse complex received its second bomb threat in a week, causing the facility to be evacuated.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports Elko Police Lt. Ty Trouten says a call came into the Elko Justice Court Wednesday. The unknown caller told an employee a bomb was inside the courthouse.

The Elko Police Department and Elko County Sheriff's Office shut down the complex and blocked traffic surrounding the buildings.

Trouten says nothing suspicious has been found. The complex was cleared hours later.

Another bomb threat came in Monday after a call was made to the court. Trouten says the voices from the two calls didn't sound similar.

Trouten says Elko County deputies screen every person and item that comes through the courthouse using a metal detector.
