Man on bicycle is hit by car on Bonanza Road, critically injured

A man riding a bicycle is in critical condition after he was struck by a car Thursday in the eastern valley, Metro Police said.

The accident happened about 3:30 p.m. on Bonanza Road and Prescott Street, near Nellis Boulevard.

The bicyclist was crossing Bonanza in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a Ford Fusion, police said. He was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries.

The driver of the Ford, a 24-year-old North Las Vegas man, remained on scene and was not suspected of driving impaired.

Police have been unable to identify the bicyclist, described as black or pacific islander in his early 20s with curly, dark brown hair. He is 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. Anyone who could help identify the man is urged to call Metro at 702-828­-8189.

The collision remains under investigation.
