3 hurt in crash at Pecos and Stewart; teen suspected of DUI

Three people were hurt in a three-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon at Pecos Road south of Stewart Avenue, according to Metro Police. Alcohol was thought to have played a role.

Also according to Metro Police:

An unnamed 17-year-old Las Vegas boy was driving a 1993 Honda Accord north on Pecos approaching Stewart at a high speed when he crossed into the southbound lanes. His car rotated, hitting a 2007 Mazda CX-7 driven by Sharon Edmondson, 68, of North Las Vegas. The impact sent both vehicles into the path of a 2008 Ford Taurus driven by Doel Rojas, 51, of North Las Vegas.

After all three vehicles had come to a stop, the teen fled on foot and was captured and arrested shortly thereafter. Edmondson suffered substantial injuries, while Rojas’ were moderate. All three were taken to UMC.

The teen is suspected of driving under the influence. Metro Police continues to investigate.
