Metro Police officer injured after being dragged by car

A Metro Police motorcycle officer has suffered minor injuries after being hit by a car and dragged for nearly 90 feet.

The accident took place early Sunday morning.

Lt. Jeff Goodwin says both vehicles had been headed eastbound when the driver of the car attempted to make a right turn from the middle lane. The driver's passenger side collided with the front of the motorcycle and the officer was dragged 90 feet.

The unnamed officer was transported to University Medical Center. Goodwin says the officer's injuries were minor.

The driver of the vehicle has received a citation for causing the crash.
