An Evergreen couple has been arrested and accused of starving their 6-year-old daughter, who was brought to Children's Hospital Colorado weighing only 25 pounds.
Katherine Barton and Jason Barton are facing felony charges of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.
According to KMGH-TV (http://tinyurl.com/pngbr4k), doctors told investigators the girl suffered long-term malnutrition.
The girl's parents said their daughter was stealing food and that's why the family's refrigerator, freezer and pantries were locked.
They said the child often consumed too much food and couldn't keep it down, so they limited the amount of food she could eat.
