Girl, 10, hit by SUV in school parking lot

A 10-year-old girl was critically injured this morning when she was hit by a sport utility vehicle in the parking lot of a North Las Vegas elementary school, police said.

The girl was taken to University Medical Center after the accident about 9 a.m. at Dr. Claude G. Perkins Elementary School, near Commerce Street and Gowan Road, North Las Vegas Police Officer Aaron Patty said.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene, and the incident is under investigation, Patty said.
