Portion of U.S. 95 reopens after fatal crash

The southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 95 near Valley View Boulevard have reopened following a fatal crash this morning.

The crash occurred at 4:54 a.m., when a Toyota SUV traveling south at a high speed entered the travel lane of a Ford Ranger pickup truck, colliding with it, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.

The impact of the collision caused both cars to overturn, Stuenkel said.

The driver of the Toyota was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. It was possible he was not wearing a seatbelt, Stuenkel said.

The two occupants of the Ford Ranger sustained minor injuries and were not taken to the hospital, Stuenkel said.

Three of the four southbound lanes were closed while work crews cleared the road.
