Coroner IDs boy, 5, who drowned in southwest valley

A boy who drowned in a Las Vegas neighborhood Monday afternoon has been identified as 5-year-old Kitiona Lemoa, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Police received a report about 4:30 p.m. Monday of a drowning at a house near South Decatur Boulevard and West Desert Inn Road, Officer Laura Meltzer said.

Lemoa, a Las Vegas resident, was transported to University Medical Center and pronounced dead Monday night, Meltzer said

The official cause and manner of his death have not yet been released by the Coroner's Office.

Abuse and neglect detectives responded to the scene, which is standard operating procedure in child death cases, Meltzer said.

No one has been charged in connection with the case, but the incident remains under investigation, she said.

Last year, two children under the age of 14 fatally drowned in Clark County, according to the Southern Nevada Health District.
