The Las Vegas Outlaws dropped the first game in franchise history Monday, starting slow against visiting San Jose in a 59-41 defeat at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Vince Neil’s Arena Football League team had just 102 yards of offense in the first half in trailing 42-13 at halftime, but outscored San Jose 27-7 in the third quarter to make things interesting.

Tysson Poots, a Coronado High product, had three touchdowns for Las Vegas to highlight the comeback effort.

Neil, the Motley Crue lead singer, sung the national anthem. He sat in the front row with the Maloof brothers, who are part of a group attempting to bring a NHL expansion team to Las Vegas.

The Outlaws are the third franchise in Las Vegas history. The Las Vegas Gladiators left in 2007 for Cleveland.
