Pedestrian hit by taxi dies of his injuries

A pedestrian critically injured when he was hit by a taxi Monday while crossing Boulder Highway has died, according to Metro Police.

A Checker Cab car was headed north on Boulder Highway about 1:50 a.m. when it hit the pedestrian, who was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk south of Russell Road, police said.

The pedestrian, Oscar O. Camara-Castillo, 22, of Las Vegas, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said. The Clark County Coroner’s Office notified Metro later in the day that Camara-Castillo succumbed to his injuries.

The cab driver suffered minor injuries but remained at the scene, police said.

The driver was not suspected of driving impaired, police said. The accident is under investigation.
