Fire breaks out at North Las Vegas recycling plant

A fire broke out this morning at a North Las Vegas recycling plant.

North Las Vegas Fire Department crews were called about 10:30 a.m. to a plant at 1609 Stocker St., near West Owens Avenue and North Main Street, Capt. Cedric Williams said. That's the location of Lakewood Recycling.

Smoke could be seen in the air after a pile of recyclable materials about 7 or 8 feet tall caught fire, he said.

Firefighters took about an hour to extinguish the fire, and no injuries were reported, Williams said.

The exact cause of the fire has not been released, though investigators have determined it was accidental, he said.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue also responded to the scene, he said.
