Updated Monday, May 11, 2015 | 1:55 p.m.

A man who died earlier this month in a crash near U.S. 95 and State Route 165, about 30 miles north of Searchlight, has been identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as Maykel Moreno-Avila of Las Vegas.

Moreno-Avila, 34, died of multiple injuries at University Medical Center after the May 3 accident, the Coroner’s Office said.

The Nevada Highway Patrol was called about 11:10 a.m. to the scene, where a silver Toyota Paseo headed south on U.S. 95 failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn onto State Route 165, Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.

The car was hit on the right side by a maroon Honda Fit headed north, and Moreno-Avila, the right-rear passenger in the Paseo, was taken to University Medical Center by Mercy Air, she said.

He was declared dead about 6 p.m., she said.

The other four occupants in the Paseo were taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center by the Henderson Fire Department; the three occupants in the Honda were taken to Sunrise by the Boulder City Fire Department, she said.

Moreno-Avila was not wearing a seat belt, Stuenkel said.

All lanes were blocked following the crash, according to the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.
