Assembly panel OKs bill allowing concealed guns on colleges

A Nevada Assembly panel has passed a bill that would allow concealed weapon permit holders to carry firearms on college campuses.

The Assembly Judiciary Committee amended and passed SB 175 on a 9-4 vote on Friday.

The bill was amended to allow concealed weapon permit holders to bring guns onto college campuses. A similar bill died without a hearing in the Senate.

The bill would prohibit a person from owning a gun if they've been convicted of domestic violence or from purchasing one if there's a restraining order filed against them.

It would also expand the definition of justifiable homicide to include killings that occur while a person is defending an occupied home or vehicle.

The bill now returns to the Assembly for a full vote.
