CARSON CITY — Gov. Brian Sandoval today signed an anti-bullying bill that carries a price tag of more than $17 million over the next two years.
It requires that parents be notified of incidents of bullying at school and sets up a 24-hour hotline, among other provisions.
The Legislature’s budget committees allocated $5.6 million for the program’s first year and $11.2 million in fiscal 2017. The state Department of Education must come before the Interim Finance Committee to report how the program is working before the $11.2 million is released.
Sandoval signed SB504 in a ceremony at the Carson City Middle School.
