Rider killed when motorcycle crashes into truck on Las Vegas Strip

A motorcyclist was killed Sunday night on the Strip when a group of riders sped past two flagmen and he crashed into the side of a stopped semitractor-trailer, according to Metro Police.

The wreck happened about 9:15 p.m. north of Four Seasons Drive, near Mandalay Bay, police said.

The truck was stopped on the west side of the Strip and two flagmen signalled for southbound traffic to stop so it could back into a driveway, police said.

A large group of fast-moving motorcycles did not yield to the flagmen, and a 21-year-old man riding a Suzuki GSX 600R lost control, police said. The bike fell on its side and slid into the side of the stopped truck; the rider slid underneath the rig, police said.

The rider, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The truck driver was not injured.

The crash is under investigation.
