SAN DIEGO — A man who allegedly waged a bullet-punctuated standoff with San Diego police for five hours has been kicked out of his own court hearing after ranting at the judge.
Titus Colbert was arraigned Friday for attempted murder of a peace officer and being an armed felon.
But the San Diego Union-Tribune says when the judge began to read Colbert his rights, he began yelling phrases, including "new world over," said he wouldn't be abused and invoked the name of Benjamin Franklin.
The judge ousted him. A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.
Prosecutors say the Las Vegas man — armed with an assault rifle — holed up in his ex-girlfriend's home Wednesday, firing at officers. Dozens of flights at a nearby airport were delayed until he surrendered.
