The man who was shot and killed by Clark County School District police officers Friday after at a south valley park has been identified as James Francis Smyth, 55, of Las Vegas.
Smyth died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Clark County Coroner’s office.
Symth, who was driving a small SUV, ran into a Metro Police officer’s vehicle at Spencer Street and Wigwam Avenue about 4:30 p.m., police Capt. Ken Young said.
Smyth refused to pull over and continued to drive to Desert Bloom Park at Maryland Parkway and Wigwam, Young said.
Two school police officers were handling an incident at the park when Smyth accelerated into the parking area directly toward them, Young said.
The officers shot and killed Smyth.
