BLM brings in more than $32.6 million with sale of public lands

Federal and state government agencies in Nevada will divvy up more than $32.6 million from the sale of 260 acres of public lands by the Bureau of Land Management.

The land, divided into 22 parcels, was sold today at an auction in North Las Las Vegas. The proceeds will go to federal and state agencies for conservation efforts, parks, trails and the purchase of other land.

The Southern Nevada Water Authority will get 10 percent of the money, and the state’s general fund will receive 5 percent.

Buyers included developers D.R. Horton, American West Development and GHR Holding Co. Greystone Nevada made the largest purchase, spending $3.9 million for 37.5 acres.

All sales were made at or above fair market value, officials said.
