Pair found dead near Fremont and Charleston were dating

A male and female who were discovered with gunshot wounds within a mile of each other Monday evening near Fremont Street and Charleston Boulevard were dating, police said.

Officers received a report of a shooting in the 2100 block of Ballard Drive about 7:20 p.m., according to a Metro Police news release.

A male of unknown age with a gunshot wound was found and taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the release said.

Police received another report about 7:30 p.m of a shooting victim in a vehicle in the 2400 block of Fremont Street, the release said.

The female of unknown age was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The couple were dating, and the deaths do not appear to have been the result of a domestic dispute, police said.

Police believe the cases are connected, but they haven't discovered the motive behind the attacks, the release said.

No one is in custody, according to police.

These are the 109th and 110th homicides this year investigated by Metro. The identities of the victims and their manners of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
